We serve approximately 60,000 customers and manage around 300,000 meter points in the Industrial and Commercial (I&C) sector. We have an exciting opportunity for a Smart Development Manager to join our team. For this role, you will manage all aspects of I&C Smart metering operations in line with regulatory obligations and business strategy. The Smart Development Manager will build a team of Smart metering experts, leading Smart Operations, implementing Metering Service Smart (MSS) and Smart Data Services (SDS) functions into npower Business Solutions. This role will offer the hybrid working approach, where you will be working in the office (Solihull) approximately 2 days per week. Key responsibilities Lead the Smart Metering team in providing end-to-end management of customer metering requirements in close collaboration with service providers. Ensure all aspects of service and compliance are covered through contractual arrangements with customers and agents. Lead operational teams to deliver end-to-end Smart metering services, facilitating installation and maintenance activity for NHH & Gas metering portfolios. Support the Supplier Management team in developing and implementing frameworks for managing agent contracts. Monitor and drive quality standards and compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry requirements jointly with Compliance Assurance. Design, develop, and execute I&C Smart relevant metering plans, ensuring successful delivery within regulatory timescales, in line with mandates. Develop and maintain governance frameworks for regulatory programs, including performance tracking and documented actions. Oversee complex customer metering (NHH & Gas) requirements and projects, aiding the business to deliver compliance obligations by mitigating the risk profile of a customer’s portfolio to the business. Ensure metering demand plans in place to provide sufficient field capacity & metering assets available for required metering activity, aligned to meet compliance and regulatory obligations. What we need from you Demonstrable knowledge of the Smart responsibilities within the UK Energy Industry. Commercial understanding of the metering business and UK’s energy market including its economic and political pressures preferably in the B2B sector. Proven experience in developing and implementing metering operations. The ability to examine and interpret complex data to optimise financial performance and make critical business conclusions. Proven track record in managing large-scale projects and achieving successful outcomes. It would be great if you had A passion for delivering and exceeding business performance with a strong growth mindset. Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver complex messages simply, clearly, and concisely. Enthusiasm to deploy new (digital) technologies to increase performance and efficiency.
