Calderdale is a special place to grow up, and we are ambitious for every child to ‘live a larger life’. Calderdale has a strong vision which promotes resilience and kindness in young people as well as unlocking their talent and potential.
We want our people and our community to flourish, and this will happen through driving forward transformation and reform of our services, in partnership, to promote wellbeing for all.
The Vision for children and families in Calderdale is that they will receive the support they need to enjoy good health, stay safe from harm, grow and prosper, and live in the best Borough in the North. Early Help is an approach to identify and support children and their families at an early stage, to prevent problems developing later in life.
Meeting the needs of all children and young people in Calderdale relies on effective collaboration and positive partnerships between all agencies who work with or provide services for children, young people, and their families.
The Early Help Officers form part of the Early Help offer in Calderdale, integrated within our Multi-Agency Screening Team (MAST). The role provides a first point of contact for families and professionals needing Early Help advice or support, working closely with MAST, Early Help Pathway Team, and the Early Help Hub.
The team responds to contacts that have been received in MAST that don’t meet the threshold for Children Social Care from professionals and members of the public, talking through their concerns, providing advice, signposting, brief interventions, and one-off visits where appropriate.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate individual who strives for excellent standards, ensuring quality and an accessible service.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience of being able to advise and guide families and professionals to enable them to access appropriate help.
You will have the skills to respond to complex family situations and an empathetic and professional approach to helping children, young people, and families.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment.
Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
Closing Date: Sunday 23rd February 2025
Interview Date: Thursday 6th March 2025
