Trading Underwriter-Legal Indemnities
Salary Circa £45,000 London and Circa £35,000 National
A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Legal Indemnities team of the Global Corporate Speciality (GCS) department of Aviva UK. This team is now actively recruiting for a Legal Indemnity Trading Underwriter to join us in London or Norwich.
We believe this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be a part of a fast-paced, independent team who will continue to push from strength to strength with our broker engagements and new products.
The bit about the job:
* Day-to-day underwriting decisions regarding the acceptance and rating of risks within detailed guidelines and agreed authority limits.
* Handling your own caseload, underwriting new business and working within Aviva’s Brand Values. Providing technical support and assistance to customers, dealing with all queries in line with your authority level.
* Developing sustainable relationships to support new business growth as well as understanding relevant Broker markets.
* Spotting and initiating opportunities for service and operational improvements by acting on feedback from customers and sharing ideas with peers in team meetings.
* Proactively developing your own capability to improve individual and team performance. Working within our governance frameworks; making sure we’re risk compliant as an organisation.
Skills & experiences we're looking for:
* Strong technical knowledge of core Legal Indemnity risks. Experience of underwriting Rights to Light, European Title and Title to Shares risks is desirable.
* Track record of being responsible for own underwriting caseloads within a regulatory environment, following due process and within set authority limits.
* Evidence of sound product knowledge and market awareness and networking presence in the London market.
* Strong attention to detail – the ability to analyse sophisticated information and draw out the relevant facts.
* Well-tuned communication skills in order to articulate technical issues and influence key contacts in the marketplace.
What you’ll get for this role:
* Starting salary between circa £45,000 London and Circa £35,000 National (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
* Bonus opportunity – 8% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
* Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
* 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days.
* Make your money go further - Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts.
* Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme.
* Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave.
* Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work.
* Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others.
* We take your wellbeing seriously with lots of support and tools.
