The HSQE Advisor will be responsible for assisting the Kelly Group HSQE Department in all health, safety, quality, and environmental-related incidents. They will also support the wider group in remaining compliant and driving continuous improvement of HSQE systems such as ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, analytical, and have the drive to make a positive effect in all HSQE culture across the organization.
The primary role will be to lead and conduct in-depth investigations with a focus on identifying root causes and developing effective preventative measures. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders including operational personnel, management, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure the continuous improvement of safety and quality standards within our operations.
In your role you will be responsible for:
* Accident Investigation: Lead comprehensive investigations into accidents, incidents, and near miss events. Gather and analyse relevant data, evidence, and witness statements to determine the sequence of events and contributing factors.
* Identify and document root causes and underlying issues to prevent future occurrences.
* Utilise industry best practices, methodologies, and tools to conduct thorough investigations.
* Report Generation: Prepare detailed investigation reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations for corrective and preventive actions. Present investigation results to management, clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy in communication.
* Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with relevant industry regulations, standards, and guidelines related to HSQE. Ensure investigations are conducted in alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
* Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other members of the HSQE department, operational management, claims/risk department, and legal to implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
* Training: Provide coaching and guidance to employees on accident prevention strategies, reporting procedures, and safety protocols. Creation of in-house eTBT’s, either refresher or newly created.
* Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the company's HSQE policies, procedures, and practices.
* Propose innovative solutions to improve safety, quality, and environmental performance across the organisation.
* Data Analysis: Analyse accident and incident data to identify trends, patterns, and areas of concern.
* Provide recommendations based on data analysis to drive proactive safety and quality initiatives.
* Awareness Raising: HSQE Briefings such as campaigns, shared learnings, instant alerts, site meetings to ensure communications are delivered to raise awareness and to prevent a re-occurrence across the business.
Main and Support Tasks
* Receive and manage incoming communications into the HSQE incident reporting line and safety email address.
* Escalate all HSQE incidents to the relevant departments within the business using the appropriate reporting templates.
* Interviewing of injured parties, MOP’s, witnesses, and key personnel- either face to face or through video technology such as Microsoft Teams.
* Liaise with the relevant client HSQE departments for the reporting of incidents, accidents, and high potential near miss events in line with the relevant clients SLA’s and processes.
* Compiling and completion of Client and company Interim Report and full Incident Reports.
* Reporting of RIDDOR events onto the HSE reporting portal.
* Site visits and inspections, to either high potential risk areas/tasks or as part of an action from a previous event/incident.
Essential Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications:
* NEBOSH General certificate (desirable but not essential).
* Member of a professional body such as IOSH (desirable but not essential).
* Accident Investigator Qualification (NEBOSH HSE, RoSPA etc) or equivalent work experience (desirable but not essential).
* Experience in accident investigation, preferably within the telecommunications industry or a related field.
* Knowledge of HSQE regulations, standards, and best practices.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in identifying root causes and developing effective solutions.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing detailed reports and presenting findings to various audiences.
* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
* Proficient in using relevant software tools for data analysis, reporting, and presentation.
The HSQE accident investigator will primarily work in an office environment but will also be required to visit field sites for audits, inspections, and training purposes. Travel will be necessary to attend sites (where incidents have occurred), off-site meetings, client meetings/engagements, or even industry events.
