Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will join a dedicated and enthusiastic multidisciplinary team and have responsibility for the timely, efficient and cost effective front line management of the area. You will be directly responsible to one of the Band 7 Modality Lead Radiographers. We encourage enthusiastic and motivated people, who wish to develop their team leadership qualities to apply.
The successful candidate will develop to become a strong team Leader within a robust induction and competency based programme, with access to a dedicated 'buddy and mentorship programme'. The department also has Advanced Practitioners in Fluoroscopy-Upper GI reporting. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in an on-call rotation for Intervention and EVAR.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
* To assist with the practical experience of newly inducted staff.
* To participate in the Interventional 'out of hours' rota in order to support the Interventional on call service, support EVAR "out of hours" rota in order to support an emergency rupture service and theatre shift pattern as required.
* Organise facilities for carrying out routine and specialist investigations sessions.
* Be responsible for the operational supervision and management of an appropriate area, assessing and managing workflow to utilise available resources, in liaison with other staff in the department and in the hospital.
* To deputise for the Lead radiographers in their absence.
* Deal with day to day queries generated by patients, staff and requests and arrange appointments as necessary with prior consultation with radiological and senior radiographic staff where indicated and liaise with clerical staff, adapting standard bookings for patient specific conditions.
* To facilitate communication between the department and all service users, patients, relatives, staff and external users, including any adherence to Trust policies, including participation in annual appraisal/review systems.
* To assist with Unit specific tasks such as Annual leave recording, monitoring staff mandatory training, audit, etc.
* Communicate with patients and professional colleagues in situations that may be traumatic due to pressures of work or where the patient's condition may be a barrier to comprehension and compliance, e.g. Claustrophobia, learning difficulties or injury traumatised.
* Report to the Lead Radiographer any sickness or absence from work of any member of department, assisting Leads with attendance monitoring and staffing plans where appropriate.
* To assist in the implementation of all manual and electronic information systems ensuring consistently accurate data collection and recording, in support of standard data collection, performance activity, audit and Capacity and demand analysis. Recording patient dosimetry in compliance with local requirements for dose reference levels.
