Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
1. Post-graduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS.
2. HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
3. Training in 2 or more distinct evidence-based psychological therapies and lifespan/developmental psychology.
4. Completion of further post-qualification specialist relevant training, including training in the supervision of trainee clinical psychologists.
Desirable Criteria
1. Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
2. Post-qualification accreditation in evidence-based psychological approaches e.g. cognitive behaviour therapy, DNA-V/ACT, CFT, mindfulness, etc.
Experience
Essential Criteria
1. Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist with children with physical health problems and/or with children/families and parents.
2. Experience of working with a wide range of psychological and co-morbid presentations.
3. Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for children and young people's psychological care and treatment, both as an autonomous clinician and within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan.
4. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, with other disciplines including medicine and nursing.
5. Experience of providing supervision and consultation to other clinical staff including psychologists.
6. Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
7. Experience of multi-agency working (e.g. with schools and other statutory and third sector organisations).
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience of working in acute hospital trusts with children and families with medical/chronic health conditions.
2. Experience of conducting evaluation projects and clinical research within health settings.
3. Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment with children and young people with medical and health conditions.
4. Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts.
5. Experience of delivering reflective practice groups.
6. Experience in working with children and young people with multiple physical, social and psychological problems.
Communication and Relationship Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
2. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
3. Knowledge of legislation in relation to the patient group and mental health.
4. Commitment to support the Trust's Value.
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
2. Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
Analytical and Judgment Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
2. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Desirable Criteria
1. Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for children and young people with long-term health conditions or psychological factors impacting medical treatment.
Planning and Organisational Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC.
2. Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to distressing situations.
3. Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice.
4. Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
Physical Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Ability to move between a number of locations within the hospital in a working day.

Salary
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part-time workers.
