Your new roleThe role for Civil Engineer is a permanent, full-time position based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. You’ll work on large-scale heavy civil projects, including marine and bridge works. As part of a team, your responsibilities will include designing marine structures, bridges, and associated infrastructure for ports, harbours, canal and river engineering projects, and coastal protection works. You’ll also prepare project specifications, conduct feasibility studies, and produce inspection reports. Additionally, you’ll supervise technicians, attend design team meetings, and provide input on health and safety plans. What you'll need to succeedTo be successful for in a Civil Engineering position, we are expecting candidates with a Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least 2 or more years’ experience in marine or heavy engineering.Proven design experience in any of the following fields is required: Civil or Structural Engineering, Heavy Civil, Marine/Harbour or Bridges. You must be proficient in using MS Office, must be familiar with European and British Standards and Codes of Practice and must have awareness of recent developments in engineering research and design. To be successful, you must have excellent oral and written communication skills with strong analytical and numerical skills. You must be able to manage projects and prioritise tasks and be able to work in a team environment or independently. It is important that you must have strong negotiating and interpersonal skills.Due to the nature of work, you are expected to travel and to be posted away from home on short duration and must be willing to work unsociable hours if required (albeit infrequently).
