The Accounts Assistant Apprenticeship Programme:
This qualification covers a range of complex accounting tasks. Apprentices will learn and master financial processes, including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts, VAT issues in business, management accounting costing techniques, and ethical practices for accountants. They will also gain software skills through spreadsheet training for accounting.
This apprenticeship standard is at Level 3. The structure allows students to achieve the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Advanced Diploma in Accounting as their on-programme learning. This internationally recognised AAT qualification enables those working in accounting or those looking to pursue accountancy as a career to gain knowledge, practical experience, and the all-important certification often sought by employers.
What will I be doing?
* Ensuring all cash books are regularly kept up to date and reconciled to bank statements.
* Responsibility for VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, and Intrastat returns including VAT reconciliations for OEM and MRO.
* Assist with compilation of Corporation Tax information and submissions.
* Ensuring the VAT is reconciled monthly and the VAT return submitted on time to HMRC.
* Financial analysis and reconciliations.
* Maintaining the schedule of leases.
* Updating foreign currency summary files each month.
* Contributing to monthly reporting of site accounts.
* Supporting Financial Accountants with daily/monthly tasks.
* Dealing with ad hoc accounting and reporting queries.
* Liaising with Safran UK Shared Services Centre on accounts payable and accounts receivable issues.
* Providing cover for Finance Analyst and Financial Accountant.
Travel specificity
There is no regular travel required with this role.
Candidate skills & requirements
You will have a keen interest in Accountancy and/or Finance and be able to demonstrate a methodical and thorough approach to work. You will possess excellent problem-solving abilities. The role of apprentice will require you to be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills. You will be a motivated, hard-working individual with excellent planning and organisational skills. The ability to effectively work as part of a team and on your own will be key to your success.
Successful candidates will need to have achieved, or expect to achieve at least 5 GCSE's - including Math and English - Grade A-C or 5-9, Science and a technology subject.
Time shared between the Safran Landing Systems Services site and the Training Providers site, both located in Gloucester.
