Salary: £31,586 to £34,314 per annum.
Working pattern: 37 hours per week, with flexible working agreements.
Contract: Permanent.
Location: County Hall, Chichester. You will also have the opportunity to partially work from home, depending on the service needs. During your probationary period, you may be required to work in the office more frequently to ensure you receive adequate training.
Employer Pension Contribution: 19.70% this alters per annum on the 1 April each year.
Annual leave: 27 days holiday + Bank holidays = 35 days.
This role will aid in developing and delivering the Local Transport Improvement Programme (LTIP) to enhance active travel, accessibility, and safety.
The role will coordinate preliminary feasibility studies with partners and stakeholders, conduct consultations for proposed highway improvement schemes focused on active travel, and support funding bid preparations.
You will support the Principal Active Travel Improvements Officer by engaging in evidence-driven scheme identification and assisting in the development of feasibility projects and preliminary designs for consultation.
Your role includes:
* Coordinating scheme engagements and consultations.
* Monitoring and analysing data.
* Reviewing planning applications for safe and active travel.
You'll help County Councillors, planners, developers, school leaders, and community partners identify and develop the LTIP for future capital delivery plans. Additionally, you will provide detailed advice to various stakeholders, respond to queries, and build effective relationships while collaborating with internal and external partners to leverage available s106 funds for local development projects.
What we need from you:
* Analytical skills to interpret and manipulate complex project information related to client services.
* Organisation skills.
* Effective communicator skilled in presenting ideas and reports clearly. Confident in engaging stakeholders at all levels and leading consultations. Capable of independently producing technical information for reports.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Able to use a wide range of specialist software associated with the role within the team to carry out research, analyse documents and present data as part of day-to-day work.
* IT knowledge.
* Experience of working in a highways, transport or planning related field or equivalent area.
* Relevant knowledge and experience of project management processes, procedures and policies associated with working within a demanding project management service.
* Experience of coaching and mentoring others.
Desirable
* Experience and interest in active transportation.
* Public sector experience.
