This post holder will be a member of a specialist nursing team responsible for the caseload of liver patients. Manage and support a diverse caseload of patients who are under surveillance for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Review and request blood tests and abdominal ultrasound scans for the purpose of monitoring those at risk of a HCC or suspected HCC. Responsible for face to face nurse led cirrhosis clinics & Fibroscan clinics Undertaking inpatient, outpatient and community event fibroscans Manage a telephone helpline for patients with liver cirrhosis offering support, advice, information, and counselling. Determine from phone call interactions with patients the next course of action and advise patients on this. To deliver and receive information which may cause emotional distress to all parties. Work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the provision of a nurse-led service. Work closely with other specialist providers including consultants, GPs, Hepatobiliary MDT to provide seamless service for those with liver cirrhosis/suspected HCC. To act as a role model and specialist resource to all staff disseminating clinical skills, knowledge and best practice. Assist the Leicester Operational Delivery Network (ODN) with early liver disease detection projects. Actively support and assist line managers with audits, projects, policy and service developments.
