This is a fantastic opportunity for a great leader to take forward our flagship facility and make a real impact in the local community. You’ll be creating opportunities for a range of differing needs from cradle to grave. And have the tools to achieve this: including a modern PFI build, newly refurbished gym(including Bio-Circuit), virtual studio and range of community groups.
But more than this, you’ll be part of the Active Leeds Management team with a portfolio of 17 facilities, industry leading development team and business support unit.

Job Description
Job Purpose
To provide the effective and efficient management of the Leeds City Council Leisure Facilities and provide a lead role in the development of local partnerships.
To lead performance management and improvements for the Leisure centre, in line with corporate and departmental policies and priorities.
To contribute to increasing and sustaining active participation across the City.
Responsibilities
11. Working with the Sports Programme team & Area Manager, manage the operation, programming and development of Leisure Centres including the management of new and additional projects as required.
12. To provide leadership, purpose and direction to all staff members to the Leisure Centre team.
13. To be responsible for the development, monitoring and achievement of key centre and service performance criteria.
14. To lead the team and be responsible for the management of staff and all associated budget resources.
15. To lead and be responsible for the Health and Safety of the Leisure Centre
16. To be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of centre service delivery plans & marketing plans by working with the Business Support Team.
17. To lead on the development and delivery of strategic plans as and when required.
18. To contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
19. To implement training programmes, including the carrying out of training needs assessments and individual appraisal reviews.
20. To have lead responsibility for the correct and proper maintenance of the leisure centres, plant and equipment and manage/liaise with all appropriate agencies.
21. To assist with the correct and efficient operation of all licensed bar/catering activities as applicable.
22. To be responsible for the centres budget planning process and implement the appropriate financial and budgetary control systems in accordance with the Council’s financial regulations.
23. To be responsible for the human resource planning of the centre, including recruitment, retention, disciplinary and grievance, training and development, in accordance with the Council’s HR regulations and procedures.
24. To create and support effective working relationships with managers and stakeholders across Leeds City Council and to create and support effective formal partnerships with internal and external agencies.
25. Develop, write and present reports to groups, Councillors and outside bodies and inform senior managers of implications and or opportunities through changes in policy and legislation.
26. To be on call for emergency call out purposes and to manage cover.
27. To manage the administrative duties in relation to the operation of the facility
28. To effectively manage appropriate budgets in accordance with Leeds City Council’s Financial Regulations.
29. To undertake any other duties which may be assigned from time to time and that are commensurate with the grade of the post.
30. To undertake the accountabilities of the post in accordance with council policies including the Safeguarding of Young People and Vulnerable Adults, Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety policies.
Qualifications
31. ISRM / ILAM certificate or N.V.Q. equivalent
32. Institute of Safety and Health (I.O.S.H.) Managing Safely or equivalent

60. Experience of working as part of a management team within a facility
