About the Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing new mechanical equipment to improve quality, safety, and output. Providing support to the production process by assessing and troubleshooting systems already installed and be responsible for managing capital projects. This is a full time position based at our UK facility based on the outskirts of Glasgow, and you would be required to be on-site Monday-Friday. Responsibilities To design equipment and processes to improve product and process performance and safety, and be able to offer advice to others on equipment selection and specification. Define, plan, and organise all aspects of a project including financial evaluation, control of budgets and timescales to meet the stated objectives of that project. Be able to generate prototype designs, conduct testing, quantify and justify the preferred design. Perform commissioning and testing of new plant or systems, assessing their suitability for their stated purpose, and monitoring the performance once the system is live. Provide advice, support, and training to Production and Maintenance departments. Supervise and control any external contractors that are utilised both on and off site during project life cycles to ensure that they are working to timescales, budgets and design criteria. Maintain and control a Technical file for each project with appropriate risk assessments, drawings, training records, handover documents etc. Have the ability to generate technical drawings, using 3D modelling programmes, preferably Solid Edge. Familiarity with AutoCAD would also be advantageous. About You Skills: Engineering design skills and an innovative approach to problem solving are essential You will have good all round project management skills, and be able to ensure completion of multiple concurrent projects within the stated boundaries of cost, time and quality Must be able to communicate and influence effectively at all levels, both internally and externally Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of machinery design codes and safety standards.
