An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Medical Receptionist to join our busy, friendly team here at Pen Y Cae Surgery, Ebbw Vale, which is situated on the edge of the town centre.
The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for the practice and will be responsible for assisting patients, visitors and colleagues.
The post holder must have excellent communication skills with a helpful and pleasant manner. A flexible approach to work is essential as well as being able to adapt to changes, excellent customer service skills with the ability to multitask in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
The post is for 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-6:30pm.
Job Summary:
* Reception and routing of patients on arrival.
* Dealing with requests for appointment on arrival.
* Dealing with enquiries by telephone, email and in person.
* Recording requests for visits and telephone calls.
* Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing).
* Keeping up to date with new instructions and information distributed via memos, electronic messaging, email and meetings.
* Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures.
* Accepting messages for doctors, nurses, managers and other attached clinicians, and effectively communicating them as appropriate.
* Filing of medical records as required.
* Administrative duties such as scanning, filing, patient registrations and deductions, My Health Online.
* Repeat prescriptions.
* Deal with Practice tasks and other administrative tasks as required by clinical staff.
* Leaving the reception area tidy and ready for colleagues taking over the next session. Passing on relevant information and unresolved problems.
* Tidying the reception area and the waiting area at the end of each session.
* Ensuring that all notice boards and administrative files are kept tidy and up to date.
Criteria:
* Excellent communication skills including verbal and written English.
* Maths/English A-C or functional skills level 2 evidence.
* 2 years previous experience in customer-facing roles.
* Competent in IT skills including Microsoft Office.
