The Role
We're delighted to be working with our wonderful client, a small business located on the outskirts of Haywards Heath, in their search for an Accounts Administrator / Finance Assistant to join their team. This is an office-based position, requiring someone with their own transport due to the rural location.
You will play an integral role in the financial function of the business, managing a wide range of financial administration tasks while ensuring accuracy and efficiency across financial processes.
* Checking and processing sales invoices, including verifying billing information and VAT status for customers.
* Administering the Motability system for invoicing and repairs.
* Recording supplier parts, purchase invoices, and credit notes on the CRM.
* Monitoring and recording all bank deposits and payments, escalating issues promptly.
* Reconciling daily, monthly, and yearly transactions.
* Supporting the external accountant with payroll, including salary, PAYE, and NI payments.
* Managing submissions and payments of company taxes, including Corporation Tax, VAT, and Import VAT.
* Reconciling credit card transactions and monthly statements.
* Maintaining and managing sales and purchase ledgers.
* Ensuring suppliers are paid on time and resolving financial disputes with internal and external stakeholders.
* Acting as the key point of contact for financial and accounting matters within the office.
* Updating internal systems with financial data and assisting with debt chasing.
* Reviewing, creating, and implementing financial processes to improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have previous bookkeeping experience, with a preference for candidates holding AAT qualifications. You will have good IT skills, particularly with Excel, and a strong understanding of financial processes. A positive, empathetic, and can-do attitude is key, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role could suit someone who has worked as a Bookkeeper, Finance Assistant, or Accounts Administrator.
