The successful candidate will work as part of the experienced ED team and will have the responsibilities similar to that of the senior registrar (approx. st6 level) with a focus on developing skills and behaviours for beginning a Consultant post in Emergency Medicine.
The role will have a 75% clinical and 25% Non clinical split to allow the candidate to get involved with quality and safety meetings, quality improvement projects, education and own reflection/CPD.
We are looking for someone who will demonstrate a positive attitude and will work well within a team, while also having the ability to use their initiative. The Emergency department is a very fast paced, busy environment so the ideal candidate should be able to work under pressure with the support of their peers.
We pride ourselves on our Trust Values and expecting Doctors to demonstrate this within their role.
The main duties and responsibilities of this post are to:
- Carry out initial assessments, investigations and manage patients in the Emergency Department
- Supervise clinically in the department
- Participate in teaching for junior medical staff and nursing staff
- Admit and discharge patients safely from the Emergency Department
- Ensure a safe and high standard of care of all patients in the Emergency Department
- Work flexibility between all areas of the department.
- Participate in the running of the department
- Participate in non-clinical tasks to ensure smooth running of the department
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
