Job Purpose:
To provide financial reporting, financial control, and record keeping for Lucy Electric UK Limited.
Business Overview:
Lucy Electric is an international leader in intelligent secondary power distribution products and solutions, with features such as remote operation and monitoring. Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial, and commercial applications.
Key Accountabilities:
Financial Control and Record Keeping
1. Responsible for timely month-end closing, preparation of month-end accounts for financial controller's review.
2. Prepare monthly accruals, prepayments, and accounting entries.
3. Responsibility for maintenance of financial records, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash books, and fixed asset register.
4. Development of financial control systems and procedures.
5. Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, including credit control.
6. Cash management.
7. Support analysis and appraisal of investment and financing decisions.
Compliance
1. Responsibility for compliance with the Finance Policy and Procedure Manuals.
2. Ensure compliance with statutory accounting and tax regulations.
3. Responsibility for all areas of the year-end audit.
4. Preparation of statutory accounts.
5. Review monthly payroll calculations.
6. Oversee all VAT, PAYE, and other HMRC processes.
Financial Reporting
1. Preparation and issue of monthly management reports pack.
2. Analyse financial reports and present findings with department heads.
3. Development of management reporting.
4. Fixed asset and headcount reporting.
5. Other ad hoc reporting as required.
Financial Planning
1. Preparation of rolling profit forecast 3 times per year.
2. Preparation of weekly cash forecasts.
3. Preparation of annual budget and co-ordination of management plan.
Others
1. To perform tasks commensurate with the position, and to have a flexible approach within the department.
2. Manage, mentor, and develop 3 direct reports (management accountant, credit controller, and purchase ledger administrator), with overall responsibility for a team of 6.
3. Covering financial controller when on annual leave.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Essential:
1. Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with 3+ years experience.
2. Professional membership with a recognised accountancy body.
3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
4. Ability to influence and direct people.
5. Must be able to work independently for significant periods of time.
6. Ability to demonstrate effective team working across all disciplines within the company.
7. Able to prioritise workload effectively.
8. Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail.
9. Excellent Excel modelling skills.
10. Ability to write financial policy and procedure documents.
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of the electrical supply industry.
2. Education to degree level or equivalent.
3. Knowledge and use of D365.
4. Excellent presentation skills.
