The Role: Our London Finance & Restructuring Practice Group (the “Group”) includes Banking & Finance, Real Estate Finance and Restructuring & Insolvency. This role requires an experienced lawyer who will: help to develop the Knowledge Strategy for the Group and implement projects to meet the Groups’ knowledge needs; create, develop and manage the Group’s collection of forms, precedents and research materials; organise, design and help deliver Group training; provide legal and practical expertise to support and grow the Group’s practice; monitor developments in the legal and business environment in order to keep both the Group and its clients up to date; and provide other support as needed. Responsibilities: Knowledge Strategy & Innovation: To work with Shareholders and other Professional Support Lawyers who support the group globally, to assess the knowledge needs of the group. Define and implement a plan to meet those needs that is aligned with the business goals of the group, as well as mechanisms for regular review of the plans. Collaborate with the innovation function of the Firm, as led by the Global Chief Innovation Officer, to help develop and implement both internal and client-facing technologies for Finance & Restructuring-focused practice areas, products and industry facing groups. Assist with explorations of cutting-edge approaches and technology related to improving practice efficiencies Organising and Sharing Standard Forms, Document Collection and Process Maps: Work with group members to create new and improve existing processes to capture practice-related knowledge content and encourage the sharing of information and knowledge generally. Maintain electronic collection of practice-related knowledge resources which include English law-governed standard forms and accompanying notes, precedent documents, best practices and how-to memos, legal research documents and other material useful to the group. Maintain knowledge related aspects of the group’s intranet site. Work with the legal project management team to create online process maps for key Finance & Restructuring processes, populate process maps with links to useful knowledge content and resources, and maintain process maps to support the budget/pricing process for typical Finance & Restructuring matters. Lead on the group’s precedents committee, in conjunction with other members of the group, to ensure precedent documents are up to date and consider opportunities to create new precedents to assist the group. Lawyer Training and Technical Expertise: Work with the group and the Learning & Development team to identify practice-related training needs and assist with meeting those needs and advise internally on technical issues. Lead (with support) development and delivery of legal training for associates and individual practitioners to assist them with locating practice-related internal and external knowledge. Organise regular (likely monthly) interactive know-how sessions to keep the group up to date with legal and market changes. Thought Leadership: Write or help to coordinate the writing of articles for publication and generally enhance Greenburg Traurig’s position within the Finance & Restructuring sector. Monitor and keep the group informed about relevant developments and trends in the relevant law (including consultations and policy papers regarding prospective changes), caselaw, regulations and/or market practice. Proactively identify for discussion legal/policy/business developments of potential interest to the group. Work with the information centre to maximise the value and use of significant practice related current awareness and alerts from internal and external resources. Consider opportunities for the London Finance & Restructuring Group to interact with other GT offices on thought leadership pieces. Matter Management and Collaboration: Work with the group and with the marketing department to develop processes to capture matter descriptions and categorisations in our matter system and conduct post-matter review of lessons learned. Client-Facing Initiatives: Work with the group and the marketing department to identify opportunities to develop business from new and existing clients and sectors through bespoke and targeted alerts, articles and briefing notes, and similar resources. Identify and assist with running client seminars, training initiatives and similar activities through direct liaison with clients. People and Relationship Information: Work with the group to establish processes to capture and publish information about individuals (both internal and external) with specific knowledge and experience relevant to the groups business in the Firm’s dedicated CRM system. Other: Participate in regular meetings of the PSL function and knowledge department and liaise with other PSLs to facilitate the sharing of best practice and knowledge. Attend external training and conferences to keep up to date with relevant documentation in the law, business environment and professional support. Provide other knowledge support to the group as may be assigned by the head of the group. Participate in regular Finance & Restructuring team meetings and meetings with the BD team.
