This is essential to succeeding within Alpha Engineering The Alpha Graduate Programme: As a Graduate Engineer with Alpha Engineering, you’ll embark on a career path that blends cutting-edge engineering with one of the most vital and specialized fields in the energy sector (nuclear). Your role will involve designing and optimizing ventilation and supporting systems that ensure the safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance of nuclear facilities. On a day to day basis, you will collaborate with industry experts, tackle and solve real-world challenges, and contribute to sustainable energy solutions that meet the highest standards of safety and reliability. This position offers a unique blend of technical challenges and meaningful work whilst also ensuring that you develop towards chartership with your chosen institution, hitting all of the key competency areas. Examples of work that you may complete on a daily basis are: Developing a working knowledge of components within typical mechanical and electrical systems including - fans, can coil units, dampers, flexibles, filters, control panels etc. Assisting in the design of HVAC systems that meet regulatory and safety standards, using CAD software and other engineering tools to model and simulate system performance. Development of design deliverables at all phases of the product lifecycle, ranging from specifications, calculations, drawings and 3D Models, control philosophies and design reports. Engaging with key equipment suppliers to deliver design solutions. Supporting the testing and commissioning of systems, ensuring they operate within required parameters and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Gathering and analysing data from systems to monitor performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements. Helping to ensure that systems comply with nuclear industry regulations by reviewing documentation, conducting risk assessments, and participating in safety audits. Liaising with industry experts. Undertaking or assisting in site surveys, such as existing ventilation or building services systems to evaluate full customer requirement and compliance to specifications.
