Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Stem Cell Transplant Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our cancer services team based at Royal Marsden Hospital Haemato-Oncology Unit in Sutton. As a registered nurse who has acquired additional specialist knowledge and experience in stem cell transplant you will use your clinical expertise to ensure co-ordination of the care of patients undergoing transplant, providing a seamless service for patients and their families throughout the pathway. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team you will provide support, assessment and education for this group of patients whilst overseeing their care as keyworker. This post will be predominantly based in the post transplant setting, with cross cover in the pre transplant setting when required for service cover. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you have substantial experience in a cancer nursing role within stem cell transplant. There are plentiful opportunities for professional development, including internal and external courses, national study days and national/international conferences. The CNS team cover a week day service, with opportunities for flexible working. Main duties of the job The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be expected to demonstrate a higher level of practice in both their direct care of patients and in their ability to plan and develop services to support cancer care. Through the key skills of leadership, innovation, and clinical expertise they will facilitate and deliver care which is patient centered, delivered with compassion, safe, and effective. The CNS is a core member within the multidisciplinary care team (MDT) and through demonstration of these higher level skills they will work collaboratively with clinicians and service managers to promote, develop, review and redesign the relevant services which are responsive and tailored to patient's needs.This post specifically will be responsible for stem cell transplant co- ordination for patients and caring for this group of patients in the post transplant setting The post will be based at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton.
