Are you passionate about promoting independence and recovery through everyday activities?
The Specialist Treatment and Recovery Service (STaRS) is looking to recruit a Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join an established Multi-Disciplinary Team. STaRS is a ground-breaking mental health rehabilitation service which offers intensive, high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation interventions in both inpatient settings and in the community. The service is based in Hull and serves clients across Hull and East Yorkshire.
The successful candidate will be based on the ward (a five bedded, mixed, mental health rehabilitation ward) and also be expected to work in the community (clients' homes and third sector providers) to support service users in their recovery. The successful applicant will have excellent engagement skills and will be proactive and person-centred in working with people who have complex needs.
The candidate will work closely alongside their occupational therapy colleagues and the wider MDT. They will undertake assessments and interventions as directed by members of the occupational therapy team with service users on the ward. The candidate will also work collaboratively with our service users and their families/carers, and with a range of colleagues and partner agencies to support the service users through their ongoing recovery journey from their mental health difficulties.
Work undertaken by the team is aimed at maximising service users' activities of daily living, skill development, development of meaningful activity and routine, and to promote social inclusion.
There will be a requirement for the Occupational Therapy Assistant to work flexibly in line with rosters and shift patterns.
The post holder will be managed by the Team Manager/Advanced Occupational Therapist and professionally supervised by a member of the Occupational Therapy team.
The successful applicant needs to have the ability to commute within the Trust's geographical area, with access to appropriate means of transport being essential.
It is expected that the successful applicant will have knowledge of occupational therapy and ideally have experience of working with occupational therapists.
The successful candidate will be put on the appropriate salary pay point based on their previous experience in the role or a similar role. If you do not have appropriate training, we are open to the development of staff. You will be encouraged to engage in your professional development needs.
