WHAT TO EXPECT
The Engine Test Technician will be responsible for installing, conducting and delivering tests to fulfil the test plan. This will entail having a detailed understanding of rig preparation, Unit under test (UUT) installation and testing.
The successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of UUT Test environment and will need to be experienced in testing techniques and equipment within a prototype testing environment. The output of testing is data and hence, the successful candidate will be expected to understand testing data acquisition systems.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Operation of the test cell under manual and automated conditions
• Servicing and repairs of Unit under test and fitment of Rig onto test cell in a safe and repeatable manner
• Analysis, reporting and rectification of test results and facility utilisation along with facilitating continuous improvement
• Aid in defining root cause and countermeasure activities – Standard problem definition
• Ensure internal and external audit compliance to standards including ISO 45001
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
• An indentured apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 vocational qualification in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering and relevant technical experience
• Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent in English, Maths and Science
• Excellent knowledge of motor vehicle technology with an up-to-date knowledge of vehicle development, especially new engine types and electronics
• Strong, practical skills with good manual dexterity
• Ability to follow written and spoken instruction and interface well with customers
