Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer
A senior role for an experienced manufacturing engineer, driving product design from concept to completion in a leading automotive manufacturer.
We are partnering with Polytec Group to recruit a Senior Manufacturing Engineer on a permanent basis for our Bridgnorth site, with opportunities for travel to other West Midlands locations.
About the Role:
* Lead new product integration into production, covering pre-series to series production.
* Manage process engineering integration, layouts, capital expenditures, installation, commissioning, and support for maintaining production lines.
Main Responsibilities:
* Coach and develop team members, enhancing their engineering knowledge.
* Manage productivity, efficacy, and discipline within the team.
* Foster skill development and maintain self-directed learning among team members.
* Develop processes for manufacturing predictability and reliability.
* Implement process capability standards and long-term sustainability measures.
* Support the transition of new products and processes from R&D to manufacturing.
* Engage early with R&D to incorporate Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Paint (DFP).
* Provide technical support to the Operations Team using current production lines to manufacture customer assemblies.
* Review manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement.
* Manage Lists of issues on current production lines and provide technical solutions to ensure production supply is not affected.
* Support delivery of Model Year updates on current production lines.
* Collaborate with Project Management (NPI) to manage multiple short-term tasks and meet expectations.
* Manage projects within constraints using recognised methods and systems.
* Influence others in implementing product and process changes.
* Communicate with customers and vendors to resolve product and material non-conformance issues.
* Provide technical-design support for development, design, and systems integration.
Skill Requirements:
* Related engineering qualification to HNC/HND level or above.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing/launch engineering.
* Total Product Design - end to end.
* Full knowledge of manufacturing/production processes - end to end.
* Experience of Project Management/Continuous Improvement.
* Ability to manage production integration.
* Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of Lean methodologies.
* Experience of leading and managing teams.
