HR Associate (Self-Employed) "I’m looking for someone consistent and reliable who can help me keep current clients happy while I focus on growing". Location: Redbourn, Hertfordshire (A mix of office, client visits & remote work) Hours: 10 per month / split weekly to begin with and will most definitely increase Rates : £64 per hour My client is a start-up with a very strong belief in being yourself. The founder is about freedom, authenticity, and making businesses work better for owners and employees — no corporate nonsense allowed. The business is only 2.5 years old, but they're already winning awards & changing the game. What I’m Looking For: Personality & Experience: You’ve got client-facing experience (mandatory). You’ll be pragmatic, detail-oriented, confident, and empathic. They need a calm, steady hand that can juggle multiple HR balls without dropping them, all while maintaining that magical balance between professionalism and personality. Skills: You’re someone who can get things done, make decisions, and offer solutions, all while being mindful of risks (low to high, RAG-style). You’re not risk-averse, but you’re also smart about it. You’re methodical, time-driven, and responsive—clients come to us because we’re always on the ball. Flexibility: I’m in the middle of a strategic growth & development phase. This means you’ll need to be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in an environment where things might change. If that sounds scary to you, this isn’t the gig for you. But if it sounds like freedom and excitement, then let’s chat. What You’ll Be Doing: Client Interaction & Relationship Building: Be the face of of the business for their not-for-profit client directly and scope for other clients too. They’ll want to meet with you, and you’ll be representing the business. You'll be doing site visits, holding their hands (metaphorically) through HR challenges, and keeping everything running smoothly. HR Advice & Support: You’ll be offering a blend of guidance, handholding (the gentle kind), formal letters, coaching-type help for the new managers and general problem-solving. You’ll also be leading some formal meetings, making sure clients feel supported. Business Administration: A bit of HR admin, some work in Basecamp (their client filing system), and keeping the Director on track with any new employment law updates. This might sound less exciting, but trust me, your contributions here will keep things running smoothly and efficiently. Mentorship & Training (Optional): If you're interested in growing a team with me, there’s potential to help support and coach an apprentice, or help train others. You’d be a mentor (while still kicking butt as an individual Associate). What’s in it for You: Flexibility : Work 2-3 days a week [may change weekly], from home or on-site with clients. Flexibility is the name of the game here, so long as you’re responsive and get the work done then we are all happy. They like their freedom, and you should, too. No corporate BS : Say goodbye to that soul-sucking corporate environment. These guys are different. They're about being real, transparent, and, well, not over-cautious. Growth opportunity : There’s potential for this to become a full-time, permanent gig if things go well. Therefore, this could suit someone working permanently, part-time, a returner into work or a mix of the above. They're also looking into hiring an apprentice. If you like the idea of taking ownership and running with it, this might be a blooming wonderful partnership. How to Apply: If you think you can keep up with my passion, pace, and occasional brain fog, send me an email and let’s get on a video call. Bonus points if you can tell me how you’d handle a potential client crisis while keeping your sense of humour intact.
