Scottish Power are looking for a Financial Accountant to join them on a contract basis. Job Title: Financial Accountant Business: Scottish Power Corporate Duration: 12 month contract Location: St Vincent Street, Glasgow/hybrid style working Candidate must be a fully Qualified Accountant Job Purpose Statement Member of the Financial Accounting & Transactions Team with responsibility for ensuring all joint venture reporting matters are considered on behalf of the team, with key responsibility for leading on SPR WODS Celtpower, Coldham and the suite of onshore solar development sites. Responsibility to manage the delivery of key onshore and offshore projects through construction on behalf of the team, focusing on Significant Contract reviews, Financial Close processes, KPI narrative and Availability Control management. The role is critical to the delivery of financial reporting for the UK Renewables business This role will support the Senior Financial and Transaction Accountant (‘SFTA’) in the on-time delivery of key reporting deadlines in the Financial Accounting and Transaction Management Team (“FATM”), identifying key accounting and reporting issues, identifying key actions required, and ensuring the creation, maintenance and improvement of SAP Transactional Master Data is considered. The goal being to ensure that SPR business needs are met without compromising the control environment or the ability to report results. Accountability Statements Assist the SFTA in ensuring the completeness and accuracy of results for selected Renewables entities in the UK. Lead in key joint venture reporting requirements of WODS, Morecambe Wind Limited (“MWL”), East Anglia Offshore Wind Limited (“EAOW”), Douglas West Extension (“DWE”) and East Anglia Three (“EA3”) as well as any potential future divestments. Take the lead in managing the offshore billing process for resources and overheads, and all other recharges, ensuring compliance with the respective agreements. Take the lead in providing support and appropriate challenge to the business in their approach to financial accounting to ensure compliance with group accounting policy and IFRS, whilst continuing to develop strong financial controls and processes over the general ledger for the Hagshaw cluster companies during the construction phase. Undertake monthly Balance Sheet Analytical reviews for responsible statutory entities to identify trend analysis, potential errors, and key financial reporting issues. Assist in month end, hard close and year-end financial close processes to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the financial reporting under IFRS, whilst also assisting in the identification of issues impacting all key reporting processes (monthly reported results, KPIs, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets). Interrogate and challenge the decommissioning provision for both the onshore and offshore windfarms. Provide support services and analysis in relation to the consolidation of the external trial balance for West of Duddon Sands (“WODS”) into Iberdrola’s SAP. Support the SFTA in the delivery of emerging technologies/transactions in relation to all financial and accounting matters to ensure accuracy within SAP, robust processes surrounding reporting and compliance with IFRS/IBE Group Policy. Execute applicable Internal Controls ensuring that controls are completed on time and reviewed/, updated where necessary as part of the annual operation and design review processes. Contribute to a positive team environment within the Renewables control team presenting a proactive attitude and suggesting and delivering process improvements where applicable. Build effective relationships with all key stakeholders within Control and across the business. Provide ad-hoc support to stakeholders within Control and the wider business as required. Monitor and challenge financial and non-financial performance to ensure progress toward business objectives and key performance indicators is clearly reported. Skills, Knowledge & Experience Qualified accountant with financial accounting experience and the ability to understand and challenge technical matters Good understanding and experience of relevant IT applications in particular SAP-BPC Demonstrates excellent communication skills at all levels – verbal and written Effective influencing, organisational and analytical skills Understanding of requirements of the control environment and ability to apply these to working practices Commercially aware, delivery focused and self-motivated individual Extensive knowledge of key financial, commercial, and associated policies and procedures Delivery focus and resilience to deal with the continually changing demands and time-pressures of the role. Minimum Criteria (mandatory) Criteria • Qualified accountant with some PQE of working in a financial accounting/reporting /analysis role within Control. • Good understanding and experience of relevant IT applications in particular SAP-BPC • Excellent communication skills at all levels – verbal and written • Extensive knowledge of key financial processes and associated policies and procedures • Highly motivated self-starter with confidence, ability, and presence to constructively challenge at all levels
