Brief Description
Job introduction
You'll be joining the Route Services finance team, which is part of the corporate structure known as Finance and Business Support, within the Route Services directorate. Your role involves supporting the function to deliver services that are vital to the running of the railway, delivering the provision of services agreed by the routes to allow them to benefit from economies of scale and the optimisation of our critical resources.
About the role (External)
Main responsibilities
* Support the business teams in providing financial information as required to aid in efficiency finding.
* Assist in the analysis of periodic financial performance of individual business units against objectives (including budgets and forecasts).
* Prepare and distribute appropriate financial reports to budget holders to support financial control and aid performance management and target achievement.
* Support the NSC charging process to provide support and further analysis as required.
* Promulgate awareness of financial and corporate governance standards, and support and monitor compliance.
* Assist in the balance sheet provisions and detailed reconciliations on a periodic basis.
* Support the team as required, to deliver a comprehensive financial and business partnering service to the business areas.

Essential
* Knowledge of current accounting standards
* Commitment to working towards an accountancy qualification
* Advanced Excel skills
Desirable
* Experience in management accounting role
* Financial management systems experience

Band & Salary: Band 5, £24,000 to £26,000
