Communication and Engagement Senior Advisor - 30649
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Communications and Engagement professional to join the Waste Regulatory Reforms Programme. This is a temporary role until the end of March 2026; however, there is the possibility of extension, subject to funding.
Defra’s Resources and Waste Strategy identified several reforms to waste regulation to help us drive towards a circular economy. Implementing this portfolio of legislative reforms is a ‘once in a generation’ opportunity to make a seismic shift in the way waste and resources is managed in this country.
As a result, there is a need for a significant amount of engagement with industry to raise awareness of the legislative changes. We need to develop strong communications to inform the huge customer base of what they must do to comply.
You will lead the refinement and delivery of project Communication and Engagement plans. You will manage and maintain demanding relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally. You will lead and plan engagement events to ensure maximum impact, creating content and communications products.
The Environment Agency is fully committed to inclusivity and equal opportunities, offering flexible work arrangements for all our vacancies. Join us in a diverse environment where every voice is heard and valued.
The team
The post sits in an evolving Waste Regulatory Reform Programme Management Office which sits within Waste Regulation in the Environment and Business directorate. The Programme Management Office is a growing team that supports the various projects to deliver regulatory reform.
You will work with the Communications and Change Lead and other communications leads across the Programme. You will support several projects with their communication and engagement needs.
