Entity: Technology Job Family Group: Research & Technology Group Job Description: BP is seeking an experienced Expert Strategic Account Liaison to manage our relationships with the technical departments of heavy-duty and off-highway automotive OEMs. This pivotal role offers global responsibility for engaging with key Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), gaining valuable insights, technical expertise, and understanding of trends in current and future transportation hardware. As the Strategic Account Liaison, you will present and communicate BP’s technical capabilities to OEMs, identifying areas of collaboration that align with both BP’s and the OEMs’ strategies. Your role will involve fostering joint projects, from concept to delivery, ensuring these initiatives meet agreed targets. A key focus of this role is building new business opportunities centered around advanced technology programs with leading global commercial vehicle OEMs. You will form strategic partnerships with major players such as Volvo Trucks, Daimler Trucks, and the Traton Group. Your main responsibility will be leading collaborative engineering and development efforts with these partners, driving technological advancements, sustainable solutions, and environmental leadership. Collaboration and stakeholder management are critical in this role. You will work closely with senior-level contacts within OEMs and with various teams within BP, including Commercial, Product Development for lubricants, fuels, charging, bioenergy, and hydrogen. You will leverage OEM relationships and technical knowledge to advise BP’s Product Development teams on specific requirements, optimal test programs, and product flexibility to meet both technical and commercial goals. This role is part of BP's global strategic account liaison team, reporting to the Senior Manager for OEM & Motorsport Technology. The team is responsible for managing BP’s technology relationships with all strategic automotive partners, collaborating closely with commercial teams within BP's Customers & Products Global Account Management. Key Accountabilities Serve as the go-to expert on commercial vehicle OEM specifications, trends, and strategies, providing insights to inform BP’s internal programs and shape strategic direction. Cultivate and sustain relationships with key strategic CV OEMs, including those with which BP has had limited recent engagement. Gather insights into OEM needs, proactively identifying collaboration opportunities, and develop a roadmap for mutually beneficial projects. Lead a network of three regional CV liaison managers (Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific) focused on electrification and driveline products to ensure alignment with Castrol’s global CV strategic goals. Utilize OEM contacts and expertise to support BP product development teams by advising on technical requirements, test program design, and negotiating optimal test parameters to achieve BP’s technical and commercial objectives. Contribute guidance to Sales, technology deployment, and product development teams to ensure timely, high-quality, and aligned technical submissions for OEM tender processes. Serve as the primary point of contact at the working level, representing BP’s lubricants and product technology to OEM technical centers. Oversee the approval process, ensuring BP product approvals are obtained with minimal turnaround time. Present technical data to OEMs to facilitate ongoing technical discussions and support product approval processes. Collaborate to drive OEM-specific product development, offering design and approach recommendations while providing continuous input as the project progresses. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (including technology deployment, marketing, supply chain, and procurement) to ensure BP’s product offerings meet both OEM and BP compliance requirements. What do we want to see from you Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a scientific or engineering discipline. Recognised expertise in automotive engineering, lubricant or fuel technology Technical credibility to represent BP technology within the OEM. Extensive experience of presenting technology to third parties Comfortable with working with uncertainty and ambiguity. Skilled at taking the lead and setting the direction of projects to cut through the ambiguity to reach solutions. A proven track record of building relationships and networks, working effectively across internal and external teams.
