Spencer Quantum Ltd, a member of RSK Group, is a long established multi-disciplinary company with its land management division, and its geotechnical & geoenvironmental contractor and consultant division. We now have a unique opportunity for an Engineering Geologist/ Geoenvironmental Engineer with previous relevant industry experience to join our growing Geotechnical Division covering primarily our South West - Exeter based regions, with a strong focus on ground investigation delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with ground investigation work typically across South West and occasionally South Wales and as and when required. Responsibilities: Setting up and organising ground investigation works Display sound leadership and have the ability to work independently where required and problem solve Supervising intrusive investigation activities such as drilling, trial pitting and in-situ testing Soil and rock logging and laboratory scheduling Processing & Interpretation of field and laboratory results Report writing, primarily factual but some interpretative report experience preferrable Person Specification: BSc degree level qualified in geology/earth sciences or a related environmental subject essential Previous UK ground investigation site experience is essential, and knowledge of the various techniques employed MSc in a geotechnical/engineering geology discipline preferable, but not essential Be able to log samples to BS 5930A2 technical standards A good knowledge of the principal soil and rock strata encountered in the UK Knowledgeable in geotechnical studies including good understanding of basic soil mechanics Familiar with and be able to interpret geological maps and published geological data Understanding of water, ground and soil gas monitoring techniques Understanding of geotechnical in-situ testing e.g. CBR, Plate Bearing, TRL DCP & Soakaway testing Full UK driving licence essential Valid CSCS Card (if not held, the Company will facilitate) Ability to travel to different sites Salary and benefits: Renumeration is commensurate with experience, typically £30-35k plus Contributory pension scheme – salary sacrifice option available 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays Company vehicle to perform your role A flexible benefits programme including the option to buy additional holidays and childcare vouchers We encourage Continuing Professional Development and as a Registered Practice with the Geological Society, we are committed to supporting candidates through the Pathway to Chartership 24hr access to mental health and wellbeing support Professional financial advice Cycle to work scheme Various retail, gym and online discount memberships rskfamily enviornmentaljobs engineeringgeeoligist RSK will not accept unsolicited CVs from agencies other than RSK PSL or Secondary agencies.
