Role Overview:
As a Youth Development Officer at RISE UP, you will play a pivotal role in connecting young people with opportunities for personal and professional growth. Your primary responsibilities will include being the first port of call for inbound referrals, assessing individual needs, matching mentees with suitable mentors, and providing ongoing support throughout their journey towards employment.
This role is Manchester based (hybrid, 3 days a week in the office).
Key Responsibilities:
* First Point of Contact: Serve as the first point of contact for young people referred to the charity.
* Assessment: Complete start-point assessments with young people to understand their backgrounds, aspirations, and barriers to employment, and then decide on the most appropriate course of action/support pathway.
* Mentorship Matching: Match mentees with suitable mentors based on their needs and preferences.
* Monitoring Progress: Regularly monitor mentor-mentee interactions, including check-ins with mentors and tracking mentor tracking forms, to ensure engagement and progress.
* Personalised Mentoring: Provide personalised mentoring sessions to individuals, covering topics such as CV writing, interview skills, and LinkedIn optimisation.
* Webinars and Content Creation: Deliver regular webinars and work with our marketing team to produce engaging video content with employer partners.
* Post-Placement Support: Conduct post-placement check-ins for a 6-month period to ensure sustained progress and offer continued support.
* Employability Programmes: Deliver structured employability programmes and accreditations such as BTEC work skills.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all interactions with young people, mentors, and other stakeholders, using designated tracking systems.
* Collaborative Working: Develop effective joint working practices with our community partners such as job centres, supported housing groups, young carers, training providers, and other agencies to ensure a holistic approach in service delivery to young people.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Passionate about empowering young people and helping them overcome barriers to employment.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Previous experience in mentoring, youth work, or a similar role would be beneficial.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
* Proficient in using tracking systems and maintaining accurate records.
* Experience in delivering training sessions or webinars is a plus.
* Ability to work collaboratively with community partners and stakeholders.
