Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse to join the Hepatology clinical nurse specialist team. The successful candidate will take the nursing lead in coordinating the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance programme for the Humber and North Yorkshire (HANY) region. This post involves collaborative working within the Humber Health Partnership, York & Scarborough teaching hospitals and the Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance. Liver cancer is the fastest-rising cause of cancer-related deaths in the UK. The most common form of liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which makes up 85% of all liver cancers. We are looking for a confident nurse to lead the service, help engage patients on HCC surveillance to attend their appointments, create and manage a registry, and coordinate patient care.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Implementation, upkeep, and maintenance of HCC surveillance registry for identified patients under the care of Hepatology services.
2. Development of new protocols and pathways for HCC surveillance to streamline care across the region.
3. Proactively engage patients to attend surveillance appointments, improving the uptake of HCC surveillance in at-risk patient groups in line with national targets.
4. Collect and submit data as required by the cancer alliance.
5. Directly line manage band 4 care navigators within the HCC surveillance service.
6. Collaborate with Hepatology services across the region.
7. Create patient information to improve patients' understanding of HCC surveillance.

Experience Essential:
* Professional clinical knowledge acquired through at least 5 years' post-basic experience with at least 1 year at a level requiring supervision of other qualified nurses.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and training in liver/gastroenterology.
* Ability to manage change in a healthcare environment.
* Understanding of the local and national nursing agenda and priorities.
* Understanding of relevant National Service Frameworks/national guidance.
* Understanding of evidence-based practice.
Qualifications Essential:
* First level registered nurse.
* Degree level education or equivalent.
* Current professional Registration.
* Demonstrable CPD Evidence of research activity/Other liver-related specialist activity.
* 2 years post-registration gastroenterology/liver clinical experience.
* Teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
