Job Summary
The School of Health is offering an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced and qualified professional to join our team of lecturers who provide high-quality education to both pre-registration students and post-registration healthcare professionals. As a lecturer in School Nursing, you will join an experienced and motivated team of academics, providing support for teaching and learning across the School's portfolio with a focus on our post-registration School Nursing/Health Visiting (SCPHN) routes within the MSc Advanced Practice programme which supports students from throughout Scotland and beyond. You will be a committed and motivated professional who will contribute effectively to the planning, delivery and evaluation of learning materials/modules across our programmes.
With knowledge, experience and skills, as well as a degree in a relevant subject (achievement of MSc or PhD/Doctorate), you will also be expected to contribute to the wider School portfolio, which includes undergraduate and postgraduate health professional education and the School's commercialization and/or scholarly activities. There are also opportunities to undertake applied health research in health and social care policy, education and clinical practice which impacts on the health and wellbeing of people, families and communities. Our lecturers develop and use a range of skills to support students as a personal tutor as well as engaging in partnership with other academics, practice provider partners and people and communities.
The School of Health is a vibrant academic community and the main provider of nursing education in the Northeast of Scotland. The School is housed in a state of the art building designed to simulate both clinical and community settings providing a stimulating learning environment.
This is a part-time position that is held for 14 hours per week, and it may be possible to set specific days around existing employment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal Lecturer
RESPONSIBLE FOR: No line management responsibility
PURPOSE OF THE POST: The lecturing role predominantly contributes to the School portfolio, which includes undergraduate and postgraduate education, post-registration CPD, scholarly activity and research.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Participate in the development, preparation and delivery of teaching materials.
2. Provide tutorial and personal guidance for students.
3. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
4. Develop and maintain expertise in subject areas.
5. Participate in subject and course development.
6. Participate in curriculum development, including the introduction of new methods of teaching, learning and assessment.
7. Assist in the supervision of students as appropriate during their clinical learning experience.
8. Promote and market the School and its courses to local, national and international clientele.
9. Other activities as deemed appropriate by the Associate Deans or Dean of the School.
Candidates with limited/no lecturing experience can still be considered but will work to the Developing Academic. Full details of both roles can be found in the attached PDF.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
Doctoral level degree or Master's level qualification in a relevant subject area.
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and current NMC SCPHN registration.
Knowledge
Working knowledge and awareness of current policy and priorities relevant to professional practice, specifically for School Nursing.
Knowledge of relevant NMC Standards for education and training.
Experience
Recent relevant clinical and/or educational experience in School Nursing.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
PhD or Doctorate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or equivalent, willing to work towards achieving this.
Experience
Evidence of contribution to Professional Body Activity e.g. locally or nationally.
Evidence of teaching and learning/practice education in professional practice.
