A member of our amazing Housekeeping Team, the Steward VSP is responsible for the daily control of the ship's Vessel Sanitation Program. A subject matter expert on Pest control and the Pest Management Program on board with the aim of eliminating any insect infestations around the ship. Keeping a record of all pest activity treatments and inspections. This role ensures our ships remain pest-free and comply with USPH regulations regarding infestations and pests.
Voyage pest control monitoring, reporting, and record-keeping for:
1. Bedbug control inspections and treatments
2. Cockroach elimination and treatments
3. Fly activity control, breeding source identification and treatments
4. Any other insect activity, inspections, elimination, and treatments
5. IPM Chemical inventory control
6. Equipment maintenance and inventory control
7. Air-curtain/door inspections
8. Loading Inspections
9. Rat guard inspection in every port
10. Elevator pit cleaning and treatment
11. Bait station placement, monitoring, and tracking
12. Voyage pest control passive surveillance: Insect trap placement and monitoring
13. IPM Risk Evaluation document preparation
14. IPM Chemical application
15. Recycling Center inspections and treatments
16. Waste System (silos, pulper systems, biodigesters) inspections and treatments for cleanliness
17. Prevention of insect activities
18. Void space and plumbing station inspections and treatments
19. HVAC unit inspections and treatments
20. Daily shift reporting
21. Phone call monitoring log of all insects reported
22. Crew cabin inspections for evidence of insect activities
23. Guest cabin section inspections for the prevention of insect activities
24. Open deck inspections and treatments for ants and other insect activities
25. Drydock cabin treatments and restaurant booth/plumbing station BorActin replacements
26. Maintaining valid Pest Control Certification annually
Minimum Requirements
1. Fluency in conversational English
2. Hospitable, positive attitude, motivated
3. Well-groomed, follows proper hygienic practices
4. Must be physically strong and able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs to sustain physically challenging work
5. Must understand the potential for career growth
