Job Title: Benefits Officer Location: Walsall Council Work Mode: Hybrid (Predominantly remote with occasional office requirements) Pay Rate: Negotiable Working Hours: 37 hours per week Assignment Duration: Until March 2025 Key Responsibilities: Processing Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Discretionary Housing Payment applications. Interpreting complex Housing Benefit legislation and understanding subsidy and performance implications. Assessing, processing, and recovering housing and council tax benefits. Providing advice, information, and assistance to customers and stakeholders. Maintaining financial and other systems according to legislation, government standards, and council policies. Requirements: Preferably experienced in processing benefit applications and interpreting legislation. Familiarity with maintaining financial systems and providing customer support. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills. Commitment to ethical conduct and confidentiality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
