Staff Nurse - Basildon Mental Health Unit

We are looking for Band 5 Nurses to join us across the site. We have vacancies within our Basildon Mental Health Unit site including our male acute inpatient ward, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and our Assessment Unit.
The team consists of consultant psychiatrists, nurses, occupational/art/music therapists, physiotherapists, and health care workers who work collaboratively with the Community team.
Main Duties of the Job
Patients receive individualised care and treatment based on the Care Programme Approach (CPA) which highlights crisis management and a place of safety, specialised risk assessments and risk management, intensive assessment, treatment and therapy, stabilisation of acute symptoms, and relapse prevention.
The service offers:
* Assistance to acquire and enhance coping skills that promote and enable self-help and the self-management of mental health problems and difficulties
* Collaborative, structured approach towards assisting people to achieve their own recovery
* Diverse range of care interventions
* Individualised planning of treatment and care
* Specialist mental health and risk assessment
Staff in these wards work closely with the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams (CRHT) and the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT).

Job Responsibilities
To be successful, you should have experience of working within a care setting and have a good understanding of social care or a willingness to learn the process while working under the direction of senior staff.

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Registration Mental Health Nurse RMN Part 3
* Meet the requirements for revalidation as set out by the NMC
* Good standard of written and spoken English
Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of health legislation, principles of CPA and Care Management, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act 1983, and safeguarding, the NHS Constitution, and risk assessment/management
* Understanding of and the ability to conduct assessments and review of care in line with the requirements of the mental health care clusters
* The ability to devise comprehensive care plans that incorporate effective, individualised, and evidence-based therapy interventions
Skills/Experience
* Literate in IT/Computer Skills
* Able to formally supervise junior colleagues
