West Berkshire Council is looking for an exceptional individual to take on the pivotal role of Service Director – Transformation, Customer and ICT .
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a multi-faceted department responsible for driving organisational efficiency, customer engagement, digital transformation, and corporate change management.
About The Role
As the Service Director – Transformation, Customer and ICT, you will:
* Lead and manage your service area to ensure successful performance outcomes.
* Align service strategies with the Council’s vision, strategy, and values.
* Provide strategic advice to elected members and senior stakeholders.
* Drive and oversee the Council’s transformation programme, ensuring efficient service delivery and best value.
* Champion innovation and continuous improvement across ICT, digital services, customer engagement, and transformation.
* Establish and manage a balanced, affordable, and deliverable portfolio of change projects.
* Promote a customer-first approach and enhance service accessibility.
* Lead strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives to advance the Council’s objectives.
About You
We are looking for a forward-thinking, results-driven leader with:
* A degree-level education (or equivalent experience) with a qualification relevant to the Directorate and area of work.
* Extensive senior management experience in a complex, multi-service organisation.
* Proven expertise in at least one of the service areas within the department.
* A strong track record in managing significant organisational change, transformation projects, and strategic partnerships.
* Experience in financial and budgetary management and delivering value for money.
* A deep understanding of local government, current issues, and future challenges in the sector.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, influence, and drive performance improvement.
* Expertise in programme and project management methodologies.
* Confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders, senior management and elected members.
* A good working knowledge of change management strategies and techniques and be commercially astute.
