Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 (depending on skills & experience)
Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
About the Team
The EUC Platform & Application Delivery (PAD) Team enables business applications to be run on TfL’s Standard Desktop Environment and Mobile devices. The team is made up of 5 people, and we currently have several exciting projects in the pipeline such as the reviewing of application packaging methods (MSIX), Windows EverGreen 10 updates, Upgrading Ivanti UWM.
The Platform & Application Delivery Team offer services that:
1. Provide Customers with an end to end service to enable and deliver applications (COTS and In-House/ Custom Developed) to TfL user’s standard operating environment (SOE) Desktop and Mobile devices.
2. Provide a fix to incidents/ problem tickets related to: a) Application, SOE environment controls and b) Delivery of applications and Infrastructure Policy issues.
Our work will sometimes require out of hours support, support over the weekend or out of hour’s maintenance/release activities for certain applications. This additional out of hours work would be compensated.
About the Role
You will be responsible for delivering Transport for London’s Applications integration to the desktop and mobile environments. You will be collaborating with internal customers and 3rd party vendors, using the latest technology to deliver a seamless customer experience.
The platform & application delivery team offer services that:
1. Provide Customers with an end to end service to enable and deliver applications (COTS and In-House/ Custom Developed) to TfL user’s standard operating environment (SOE) Desktop and Mobile devices. This includes new applications, upgrades/periodic releases and re-works due to platform changes.
2. Provide a fix to incidents/ problem tickets related to: a) Application, SOE environment controls and b) Delivery of applications and Infrastructure Policy issues.
About you
Knowledge
* A Degree in a relevant technology/computer science subject/equivalent technical qualification plus sound on the job experience of the platform specialism or equivalent extensive on-the-job experience in IT infrastructure and in the particular platform specialism;
* Demonstrable knowledge of the latest and emerging technologies likely to be employed in designing and delivering Enterprise Wide quality solutions in the chosen platform;
* Demonstrable knowledge of technical techniques in the following: IT Infrastructure Technologies, System Security, Acceptance Testing – including operational, user, functionality and others as required;
* National and international legislation pertaining to the Government/Public Sector IT – e.g. Data Protection Act, EU Procurement Directives and Freedom of Information Act.
Experience
* Has worked within the industry in a role reporting to manager level and working with business managers to enable business benefit through service delivery;
* Previous experience as a Senior IT Engineer, ideally within an application delivery team;
* Recent experience in the latest techniques and methodologies used in delivering quality solutions;
* Team leadership and mentoring experience to both 3rd and 2nd line teams;
* Experienced in implementing, designing or supporting infrastructure as per the technical matrix;
* Proven experience of developing a customer-focused service culture and enabling people development towards this objective for junior colleagues.
Skills
Essential
* Must have excellent knowledge of MS App-V 5x & MSI packaging
* Must be proficient with PowerShell
* Well-developed diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
* Must have expert knowledge of Enterprise Infrastructure components such as: Active Directory Services, DHCP, DNS, Firewall, Proxy
Desirable
* Must have an understanding of MSIX packaging
* Experience of Ivanti/AppSense Products
* Experience of Microsoft System Centre Config Manager (SCCM/MECM)
* Deep Understanding of the mobile application Digital Signing process (iOS and Android)
* Strong understanding of Microsoft Intune
* Application Life Cycle Management
* Experience of working in an ITIL environment with comprehensive change management
