Activities Coordinator
£18,844 for 30 hours a week (FTE £21,985 pa) + benefits

We are looking for an Activities Coordinator to join our Care & Independent Living team here at Southern Housing. This role is permanent, working 30 hours per week at our Green Meadows scheme at Freshwater, Isle of Wight.
In this role, you will lead and co-ordinate service events and encourage the involvement of our residents. You will work with residents to provide choice and assist them to access day activities.
This role will undertake regular moving and handling, and you must have the use of a vehicle with business use insurance and will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Work with residents to provide choice and assist them to access day activities.
2. Undertake regular review of day activity services.
3. Encourage the recruitment of volunteers to day activity services.
4. Liaise with residents to source activities and events.
5. Coordinate and attend community events and meetings as required.
6. Provide a responsive wellbeing service to residents as required.
7. Ensure the delivery of support that promotes independence, rights, choices and inclusion in the community.
8. Maintain and develop professional relationships.
What you'll have:
1. A proven understanding of the specific requirements of people with care needs.
2. Proven knowledge of Health & Safety appropriate to the post.
3. Knowledge of day services and activities for people with support and care needs.
4. Proven knowledge and awareness of local services including community and social groups.
5. The ability to listen and communicate effectively and form positive relationships at all levels.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills, at all levels, and have good numeracy and literacy skills.
7. Empathy, compassion and patience.
