Join our dedicated Domestic Abuse Specialist Support Team, where you'll provide trauma-informed, high-quality, proactive front-line support to women & children impacted by domestic abuse. You'll work within both communal & dispersed accommodation settings & support our survivor recovery programmes.
You will thrive on achieving positive outcomes for all beneficiaries from a wide variety of cultural, ethnic & socio-economic backgrounds who make contact face to face or seeking support on the phone or by email.
You will have experience & understanding of how to meet the needs of diverse communities of women & children in a fast-paced environment &will be capable of working with minimum supervision. You must be prepared to manage a wide range of duties &able to work within a confidential &safeguarding environment.
You will promote the safety of women & children & actively challenge discrimination & violence against women & girls. You will be responsible for holding a small caseload & ensure support plans & risk assessments are being adhered to, carry out support sessions, ensure comprehensive records are being kept & attend general professionals’ meetings, amongst other duties.

You should have the willingness to take part in the 24 hour on-call rota to ensure that out of hours crisis are responded to appropriately, remuneration will be additional to the basic salary. Availability to attend the refuge accommodations located in Nottingham in an emergency situation is essential & this post will be subject to a full DBS check.
The ideal candidate will:
Have relevant experience of supporting women and/or children or experience in a housing, social care or welfare type role.
Be able to build positive relationships with people from a wide range of different backgrounds, including a wide range of cultures, ages and abilities.
Have good communication skills written & verbal
Have a good understanding & awareness of safeguarding issues & be able to stay calm in challenging situations
Be committed to achieving positive outcomes for women, young people & children
Feel comfortable both lone-working & with other team members

To plan individual support sessions & engage women to access support & services to meet their individual needs.
● To liaise with other professionals & agencies including housing, police & social care & to advocate on behalf of women & their children to gain the best outcomes for families
● To ensure that women’s rights are known to them & prioritised by other agencies
● To ensure women, young people & children are properly welcomed to emergency accommodation & an induction process followed. Ensuring rooms are fully prepared with individuals having their immediate practical & emotional needs met.
● To provide appropriate ongoing practical & emotional support to residents.
● To provide appropriate welfare rights information & support & to advocate on client’s behalf & accompany them to appointments when required.
● To deal with all aspects of breaches of the licence agreement and/or house rules appropriately & in line with policies and procedures.
● To work with beneficiaries to empower them to regain independence & determine their own futures.
● To maintain a safe environment & ensure good housekeeping within accommodation through risk assessments & health & safety checks.
● To work as an effective team member ensuring good communication with beneficiaries, volunteers, partners & management.
● To carry the on-call phone on a rota basis as agreed within the team for approximately one out of every 4-6 weeks.
● To work flexibly to attend meetings, occasionally during the day & out of hours & deliver & prepare verbal & written reports for other agencies & on behalf of the trustees & management.
