Job overview
As the HR Operations Specialist, you will provide senior operational specialist support to drive the delivery of key HR workstreams that span the HR operations function which includes HR Advisory and HR workforce systems to support the achievement of the NHSBSA’s business priorities and strategic goals.
Being a specialist in the field of HR Operations, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across the HR and wider People team and with stakeholders across the business, continually supporting team development and challenging the status quo to ensure a consistent, high performing HR provision across the NHSBSA.

Main duties of the job
As an experienced strategic HR generalist who is commercially minded with a focus on the future you will be able to pro-actively manage, own and prioritise multiple complex projects and delivery plans in a landscape of continual change. Working closely with the HR Advisory team you will deliver efficient and effective work which adds value to our HR Operational service and supports excellent service delivery to our colleagues and leaders.
As the HR Operations Specialist you will also be responsible for driving forward HR workforce optimisation across the NHSBSA and supporting in the delivery of key people metrics.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In this role, you are accountable for:
1. Research, plan and implement a broad range of People initiatives, processes and policies that impact the whole of the organisation at the NSHBSA across the colleague lifecycle.
2. Leading and driving change initiatives within the HR Operations team, ensuring that we deliver a proactive and efficient HR Operational Service.
3. Working in collaboration with the wider business and People team colleagues, lead the HR Operational elements of our future workplace vision and ways of working.
4. Working with the HR Operations Lead, lead the optimisation of our current HR system (Electronic Staff Record) across the NHSBSA.
5. Driving colleague engagement within Directorates and the organisation as a whole.
6. Ensuring leaders, managers and colleagues are fully supported through the colleague lifecycle.
7. Supporting and embedding strategic workforce planning.
8. Monitoring headcount and turnover.
9. Leading on complex, contentious and sensitive employee relations matters.
10. Effectively using complex people data within the HR Operations space.
11. Designing and delivering training/updates/briefing sessions.
12. Working collaboratively with business stakeholders to build the people management capability.
13. Being an active member of the wider HR and people team.
14. Building active internal and external networks.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Educated to Degree level (or equivalent experience/qualification)
Desirable criteria
* Masters Degree in HRM
* MCIPD Membership

Essential criteria
* Highly developed specialist knowledge of HR policies and procedures and associated Employment Law.
* Ability to build effective and trusting business partnering relationships.
* Excellent emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
* Competent IT skills.

* Strong communication skills.
* Able to use initiative, multi-task and prioritise diverse workload.

Experience

* Demonstrable senior HR experience in significant complex roles.

* Experience of working with NHS or public sector terms and conditions of service.
* Experience of working with Trade Unions.
