The Opportunity
We are seeking someone with technical expertise and experience in energy and carbon management across office and retail portfolios, with the ability to communicate clearly to stakeholders to gain buy in and funding to implement change.
As the Move to Zero Manager, you will be responsible for driving energy and carbon reductions across the client’s retail & Office (GPS) portfolio.
You will manage the deliverables for our Energy contract for Client Retail and manage a key partner, Consultus, managing their contractual deliverables & reporting, which covers bill accuracy & validation, energy procurement and market data. Using this data, you will deliver the Energy Baselining analysis of all locations provided by Client Retail for the last 12 months & on an annual basis.
You will suggest, reflect & update targets set within Client Retail & by external bodies and industry benchmarks on an annual basis.
You will plan and deliver desktop energy audits and provide reports to a set schedule.
You will conduct energy monitoring and trending, identify abnormal consumption and implement measures leading to overall cost and energy reductions.
You will identify & propose costed proposals for energy reduction, working with the Macro tech team to provide insight and resolve issues and outliers.
You will stay abreast of new global energy legislation, market developments and industry expectations.
You will be responsible to developing building-specific carbon reduction plans, utilising the CRREM tool and working closely with the FM team.
You will build a strong relationship with all stakeholders, including Consultus and Client Retail key contacts.
You will produce monthly & quarterly reports for Client Retail Stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
Main Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of strategies to achieve net zero carbon emissions across the Client Retail estate, working closely with the client’s Macro FM Operations & Tech teams.
Undertake remote detailed energy audits, carbon reduction assessments, feasibility studies and investigations to produce accurate reports detailing the improvements necessary to reduce energy use and carbon emissions.
Create targeted plans for the highest carbon footprint assets and identify the most cost-effective ways to reduce carbon at these sites.
Utilise existing carbon reduction plans, working with the Macro Tech team to deliver savings and gain client approvals for any required funding.
Develop an overall carbon reduction plan that demonstrates current carbon performance and the impact of the proposed changes on the Client’s overall carbon performance along with a long-term five-year carbon reduction plan to achieve net zero carbon targets.
Create and present compelling business cases to change, enhance or improve energy and carbon performance.
Manage Consultus’s deliverables to meet client contractual requirements including bill validation, energy monitoring and trending and identification of abnormal consumption leading to overall cost and energy reductions.
Provide technical and operational advice and support to the Tech team and other stakeholders to identify and log potential projects for decarbonisation.
Develop and advise on specific energy solutions for new build and refurbishment projects to improve existing building’s Energy Performance and achieve future corporate energy reduction targets.
Maintain, develop and report data and KPI’s relating to properties in the Client Retail portfolio in terms of decarbonisation providing insights.
Develop a knowledge base across the portfolio to drive innovation and best in class technical activities across the Client Retail locations, sharing best practices across other Macro accounts.
Undertake property surveys as directed and collect required data.
Communicate ideas for improving business processes with a positive and constructive attitude, maintaining this attitude with others.
Support the design and implementation of toolkits and processes to ensure a continual improvement of service.
Stay up to date with innovations in low carbon technologies and legislation impacting the move to zero delivery.
The ideal candidate will have:
Technical experience in a similar role (post qualification).
BSc, Diploma or equivalent in Energy Management or relevant Technical Engineering subject.
Energy Management or Auditor certifications (such as CEM, ISO50001 auditor, ESOS Lead Assessor or similar).
Good IT skills, advanced use of MS Office and associated packages.
Good working knowledge ISO 50001 and experience conducting energy audits to EN16247.
Excellent communication skills.
A positive and proactive approach to problem solving.
Familiarity with SBTi methodologies, CDP, TCFD, CRREM & climate-related risk assessment and scenario analysis.
Experience managing 3rd party contracts.
Data analysis capabilities and familiarity with BI systems.
Commercial acumen.
Experience with web-based applications/ software.
Ability to travel overseas as required and to London.
