The School and Role
An Special Educational Needs (SEN) school based in Poole are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistants to start as soon as possible. The school caters for primary pupils aged 6 - 11 years with additional needs, including ASD. The school emphasises the development of core academic understanding, encourages creativity, celebrates outdoor learning and promotes the growth of essential life skills.
The successful Support Assistant will be required to support professionals across the curriculum and school, working directly with pupils to support their learning, and providing 1:1 support and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one support to a specific student, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt teaching materials and methods to meet the unique needs of the student.
Foster a nurturing and supportive relationship with the student to enhance their social and emotional well-being.
Qualifications and Experience:
Experience working with children with special needs or challenging behaviour.
Understanding of various learning styles and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
