Head of School
Leadership 15-19
1.00 fte
As The Observatory School grows, we are adding to a team which has high expectations and sets high standards for both pupils and colleagues. As part of the school's strategic action plan to harmonise practice over the three campuses, the Executive Headteacher and Governors are looking to appoint a Head of School to be based at our Leasowe Campus and will be a part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
The job comes at a critical junction in the school journey; you will support our growing provision, expanding staff team, and increased pupil numbers, forming an important link between the three campuses (Bidston, Leasowe, and Solar) and supporting a team of Assistant Headteachers, Heads of School, Executive Headteacher, and Governors with the delivery of the school’s primary aims and objectives.
You will be well qualified, highly motivated with a transformational leadership style. Effective communication is also essential to ensure barriers are overcome, challenges are met, and outcomes are improved for all stakeholders. Your integrity, professional curiosity, and the ability to self-reflect must be on point, but gentle, professional, and proper. Your knowledge, skills, and experience are important, but so will be your emotional intelligence and resilience.
Expectations will be high; challenges you have never faced before will come from all directions and the expectation will be on you to meet them in line with the vision and ethos of the school.
The Observatory School is an extraordinary place of work, and to meet our team's expectations, you will be an extraordinary individual with a proven track record in school leadership and management. In return, we offer the opportunity to work with our area's most extraordinary children along with the area's most resilient, cohesive, and supportive staff team, where a working day is never the same as the last.
The school is truly a remarkable place, and if you feel you would like to embark on the adventure, please take the opportunity to visit the school before application. This can be arranged by emailing Kate Smith - HR Manager at recruitment@theobservatoryschool.wirral.sch.uk.
Closing date for the vacancy is 21st April 2025 with a commencement date of 1st September 2025, although this is negotiable.
Further information can be found in the Candidate Briefing Pack included with this advert. Fully completed application form, Disclosure Form, and Monitoring of Equality form should be accompanied by a letter of application, no longer than two sides of A4 detailing your skills, knowledge, and experience, and submitted to recruitment@theobservatoryschool.wirral.sch.uk.
The school is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of our children and expects the same level of commitment from all staff.
