If you are a HSE Lead, this is an ideal opportunity to join a rapidly expanding Rail company based in Staffordshire. They are currently seeking a HSE Lead on a permanent basis as the company continues to expand and grow within the industry.
As a HSE Lead, you will be on a salary of up to £45000 per annum, working day shift Monday to Friday, as well as a performance-based annual bonus.
The role is critical in delivering timely and effective health, safety, and environmental support and advice across the business. You will take a hands-on approach to ensuring the company operates a “safety first” culture, leading on training and coaching, overseeing the reporting and investigation of incidents, and embedding a continuous improvement approach to our HSE culture and performance. The successful candidate will have a real opportunity to lead on the areas of responsibility, shaping and influencing the company's processes and performance.
As a HSE Lead, your role will include various tasks such as:
1. Providing expert advice and support to staff at all levels of the business.
2. Interpreting relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance etc., and relaying these in an appropriate manner to relevant staff. Ensuring that all policies and practices are regularly reviewed and updated as required.
3. Supporting operational teams with the production of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
4. Ensuring all accidents are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements are implemented.
5. Undertaking occupational exposure monitoring, assisting external providers as required. Providing advice on risk management and health surveillance.
6. Assisting with the development and undertaking of HSE Audits and Assessment Plans.
7. Proactively identifying key areas of non-compliance and improvement and acting alongside site management for improvement.
8. Developing and delivering HSE training and identifying suitable external providers as required.
9. Taking the lead on coordinating and facilitating safety committee meetings.
10. Accurate production and reporting of metrics.
11. Deputising for QHSE Manager as and when required.
Competencies Required:
1. Minimum level 3 Health & Safety qualification e.g., NEBOSH National Certificate.
2. Minimum TechIOSH, preferred CertIOSH or equivalent.
3. Full UK driving licence.
4. Knowledgeable of requirements for working within a rail safety-critical environment.
5. Demonstrable experience developing, communicating, and embedding policies, systems, and procedures.
6. Experience training and coaching others, both in groups and 1-2-1, to develop knowledge and improve performance.
7. Able to cultivate productive relationships across the organisation.
8. Strong communicator.
