Job Description
An exciting role for a Solicitor is vacant on a collaborative project by Scottish Women’s Aid, Shetland Women’s Aid, Women’s Aid Orkney and Baker Gostelow Family Law. The project and post is funded by the Legal Education Fund. Legal services are provided by, and the successful candidate(s) will be employed by, Baker Gostelow Family Law.
The successful candidate will take a collaborative and sensitive approach to delivering legal information, advice and representation where we identify unmet legal needs to women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse being supported by Women’s Aid Orkney and Shetland Women’s Aid.
Legal casework and Court representation will largely focus on family law matters such as separation, contact and residence, as well as on related areas such as housing and financial claims arising from separation. The successful candidate may also be asked to contribute to policy, training and research. Candidates must have some experience in family law and an awareness of domestic abuse and the criminal justice process. Training on these areas will also be provided.
Location: Hybrid & flexible working arrangement; Office and Court work based on Shetland & Orkney Islands; Some home-based working; Access to central Edinburgh and Lanarkshire workspaces.
Salary: £48,000 – £55,125 FTE per annum, commensurate with experience.
Contract: Fixed Term 18 months; Either: 1 x Full time position at 39 hours per week; Or: 2 x Part-time/positions, on request.
