Overall Purpose of the Role:
To ensure that electrical equipment on site is maintained correctly, support with installations and upgrades of equipment and support in breakdown situations.
Reporting to: Electrical Foreman
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• General mill-wide electrical maintenance work and fault finding on paper machines and auxiliary plant.
• Panel wiring modifications and installations, motor testing/replacement, bench testing etc.
• Liaise with Electrical Foreman to ensure that plant and equipment are working correctly.
• Repair or replace various types of electrical systems, including control circuits, distribution systems, three phase circuits, single phase circuits.
• Undertake motor maintenance activities on both AC & DC motors.
• Liaise with Electrical Foreman regarding the condition of equipment to allow for financial planning in replacement and refurbishment activities.
• Participate in the commissioning of new or modified equipment.
• Maintain the outstanding work list and work to priorities, in conjunction with other departments and within the Engineering Team.
• Ensure that switchrooms and drive stations are kept to the expected standards.
• Support in a breakdown situation.
• Ensure the Health & Safety of employees and contractors around your work and ensure that Safe Systems of Work are followed.
• Ensure all accidents and dangerous incidents are reported and appropriate action taken.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
• L3 Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent in related discipline (essential).
• At least 3 years post apprenticeship experience in industry (essential).
• 18th Edition Wiring regulations (advantageous).
• Experience of DC and AC motor drives and control systems (highly desirable).
• Ability to fault find on systems with and without drawings (advantageous).
• Awareness and understanding of control theory (advantageous).
