Description We have an exciting opportunity for you to enter our close-knit workshop team to prove yourself as a self-motivated high performing individual. As one of the leading Fire Services in the country, our primary role is to provide emergency fire cover and proactive prevention to the people within our community. To ensure a high level of emergency response, we operate our own Vehicle maintenance Workshops (based at Perry Barr in Birmingham), which is responsible for all emergency and ancillary vehicles along with maintaining all vital ancillary equipment. Our facility, under the direction of the Brigade fleet Manager, is a clean, modern working environment operating the latest technology and equipment that provides a vital service in supporting our fire fighters. Applications are invited from conscientious hard-working individuals with a proven background in an LGV workshop environment, the role involves some heavy lifting, regular bending, stretching and climbing, you may also be required to work outdoors, or remotely from our central workshops and be part of a Rota call out system. As part of our technician team, you will need to be a proven problem solver, able to adapt your knowledge to suit all circumstances, know how to utilise modern diagnostic equipment. Even though our primary fleet consists of Volvo FL and FM appliances, multi marque vehicle fleet knowledge would be advantageous and most of all you must be a team player. Driving duties will be required as part of your role, so a current clean, full driving licence will be required and preferably a licence with an LGV entitlement, (LGV driver training will be provided for the right applicant after a qualifying period). Your licence will be inspected on a regular basis for insurance purposes. Please note that those eligible for redeployment will be given prior consideration for this role. The role involves two working patterns consisting of two weeks of earlies followed by one week of lates the hours are as follows: - Monday to Thursday 07.00am to 15.00pm………….Friday 07.00am to 14.30pm on earlies. Monday to Thursday 11.00am to 19.00pm………….Friday 11.00am to 18.30pm on lates.
