Total Remuneration: £66,937 - £83,230
Pay Supplement: The base salary for this role is £57,750-£71,750. This job qualifies for Digital, Data and Technology Annual Pay supplement of 16% which is included in the total remuneration above.
Pension: 28.97% of base salary (RoS contribution)
Duration: Permanent
Working Pattern: 35 hours per week. We are a flexible employer and will consider a variety of working patterns on a case-by-case basis. For example, compressed hours, term-time working or part-time working.
Annual Leave: 42 days
Location: Hybrid working model. Contractual base either at Meadowbank House, Edinburgh (EH8 7AU), or St Vincent Plaza, Glasgow (G2 5LD). You will be expected to attend one of these locations as required by the role.

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Data Product Manager to lead the development and implementation of a framework and strategy for delivering high-impact data and AI products to both internal and external stakeholders.
This is a strategically important role, responsible for end-to-end product management—from identifying opportunities to prioritising and delivering data and AI solutions. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation and play a key part in shaping the future of data at Registers of Scotland. You'll support the Data & Analytics leadership in building a modern data platform and improving data quality and structure to enable the delivery of trusted, high-quality data products.
This role sits within our Data & Analytics team of 40+ professionals and collaborates closely with our Head of Data Science and Head of Data Engineering. While there are no direct line management duties initially, there is a strong opportunity to grow and lead a team over time.
You will not only lead data initiatives within your own product area but also contribute to the larger product community of 20+ professionals. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside other product leaders, sharing insights and best practices, and driving alignment across diverse teams to shape the future of our products. Your work will influence not just your specific product vertical, but the broader ecosystem, ensuring cohesive and impactful product development.
On a typical day you will…
* Develop and implement a data and AI product strategy and framework, helping to establish our early-stage AI capability and shape future solutions.
* Act as a liaison between technical teams and business/external stakeholders.
* Identify, deliver, and maintain data and AI products, prioritising activity and the roadmap.
* Conduct product discovery sessions which address business challenges and define requirements aligned to business priorities.
* Translate large data projects into actionable tasks, overseeing the design and implementation of data & AI products.
* Ensure a customer-centric approach for all data and AI products.
* Establish value propositions for new products and integrate them into measurement frameworks.
* Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle, monitoring product performance, consumption, and value realisation.
* Develop a deep understanding of our data assets, its nuances and complexities and to be confident in working with related uncertainty.
* Identify and articulate practical steps required to resolve data or technical challenges.
* Work closely with data leadership teams to identify required improvements to our data model and infrastructure in relation to delivering data and AI products.
* Work closely with other product teams to ensure data and AI supports delivery of other related product activity.
* Identify and define future needs and requirements for expanding data and AI products across the organisation.

Essential Criteria – Skills and Attributes for Success
Experience/Technical:
* Proven experience in product development within cross-functional data teams (e.g. analysts, data scientists, ML engineers)
* Strong grasp of the data industry, including tools, best practices, regulations, and emerging trends
* Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful data products with clear, measurable outcomes
* Experience defining and executing a Data Product Strategy
* Ownership of product roadmaps, prioritisation, and lifecycle management
* Solid understanding of Data Analysis, Data Science, ML, and AI tools and processes
* Awareness of data quality principles and practices/ Involvement in data governance initiatives
* Experience working in Agile environments
