Job Title: Applications & Development Engineer
A key role in our organisation is the Applications & Development Engineer, responsible for maximising the potential of existing products and modifying them to promote new business.
The primary function of this role is to support the global sales force and Applications Engineering teams by capturing customer requirements, translating them into technical requirements and delivering solutions that meet customer expectations.
This position requires strong communication skills and a proactive approach focused on providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will be highly competent in all forms of communication and have experience in working with suppliers on product development or product adaptation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing exceptional customer service and support.
* Developing solutions to applications problems/opportunities.
* Managing bespoke product modifications for customers via the supplier base.
* Preparing application documentation, including CAD technical drawings and installation instructions.
* Creating and obtaining approval of manufacturing documents.
* Providing technical information and support for quote/tender documentation and business development.
* Product application support to customers and colleagues throughout the group.
* Troubleshooting and customer technical support.
* Leading technical training programs for customers and colleagues.
* Co-ordinating suppliers and contractors for bespoke products and applications.
Requirements:
* Educated to Higher National Certificate (HNC) or NVQ with a technical emphasis in electrical/electronics.
* Or an industry recognised apprenticeship with a major automotive OEM.
* Minimum of 5 GCSE's at Grade C or above including Maths and English.
* High level of numeracy and literacy.
* Above average computer literacy.
Desirable Skills:
* Knowledge of cable harness assembly/manufacturing processes.
* Experience in bracket fabrication.
* Experience in OEM product development.
* Knowledge of vehicle electrical system installation techniques.
* CAD 3D.
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum depending on experience.
