The City of Ely Amateur Swimming Club, based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, is seeking to appoint a passionate, inspiring and committed leader to the position of Head Coach. The Head Coach will develop and implement training and performance programs, oversee the coordination and development of the coaching team, and lead the implementation of the Club’s development plan to build success at county, regional and national levels. The City of Ely Amateur Swimming Club was established in 1923. It is a SwimMark-accredited club with over 100 members ranging from Swim England Level 8 right through to Masters level. Swimmers have competed at County, Regional and National levels across several age groups. The Club offers a balanced development pathway to allow swimmers of all abilities to reach their full potential and progress through the Club’s squads. Inclusion is an integral part of our community and ethos, and it is expected that the Head Coach will deliver programs to inspire swimmers at all levels. The Head Coach will lead a team of coaches (one employed Level 2-qualified coach and a volunteer team) to be fully engaged across the Club showing commitment, enthusiasm and ambition.
The Club is run by a dedicated team of volunteers along with a team of gala officials. The Head Coach position is a genuine opportunity for the right individual to make their mark and join a friendly and welcoming club. We offer a competitive salary and are looking to appoint for late 2024/early 2025.
The ideal candidate should:
* Be able and willing to work within a team to lead the Club’s development plan, with both enthusiasm and ambition
* Inspire swimmers of all abilities and show a passion for the role and the Club’s health and future
* Have experience in developing swimmers from early competitive training right through to County, Regional and National levels.
* Engage with coaches, swimmers and parents with a positive attitude
* Possess excellent communication and time management skills and be a competent administrator
Responsibilities will include:
* Delivery of the Club’s aquatics development pathway, including the provision and delivery of an annual training programme
* Oversee squad management and drive development of all swimmers
* Mentor and manage the coaching team, including regular communication and management of cover
* Lead the coaching team and Team Managers at competitions
* Align with the Fixtures Secretary to plan the annual competition calendar
* Engage in initiatives to enhance training sessions and encourage progression
* Engage actively with the Committee to ensure effective delivery of training and communication to all members
* Liaise with parents on the progression of swimmers
* Represent the Club as necessary to form good relations with the County, Region and neighbouring clubs
* Adhere to Swim England and Wavepower guidance
The Role:
* Approximately 9 hours/week training across all squads, plus attendance at competitions, development planning, coaching team management and administration.
* The Head Coach will be employed under a contract for the provision of services and will not be an employee of the Club as such.
* Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and be prepared to relocate at their expense if necessary.
* Applicants must have a UK driving license, a valid Swim England Safeguarding Certificate and a valid DBS Check. Offers of appointment are subject to satisfactory references and DBS clearance.
