Purpose of Role
We are seeking to appoint a Professor in Edinburgh Business School to provide leadership for the School’s knowledge exchange activity as Associate Executive Dean for Business and Enterprise. The successful candidate will have an extensive track record of engaging with business, public and policy communities, and will provide effective strategic leadership in the development of innovative knowledge exchange activities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The post holder will take on leadership of all knowledge exchange and associated activities as Associate Executive Dean for Business and Enterprise.
As a Professor in Edinburgh Business School, the post holder is also required to:
Learning and Teaching
* Provide leadership in the planning, organisation and development of learning and teaching activities.
* Lead and participate in the design, development and delivery of a range of programmes.
* Review programme and course content and materials regularly.
* Lead the development and application of innovative teaching techniques.
* Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations.
Research and Scholarship
* Lead the development and implementation of research and scholarship strategy.
* Lead and co-ordinate research and scholarship activities.
* Lead collaborative partnerships with other educational institutions.
* Lead collaborative University bids for scholarship and consultancy funds.
* Present at international conferences.
Communication, problem solving and decision making
* Be involved in complex negotiations internally and externally.
* Contribute to the communication of the wider University strategy.
* Act as the final arbiter in local disputes.
* Initiate new solutions to problems.
Collaboration and Networking
* Chair and participate on internal committees.
* Take a leading role in senior external groups.
* Lead and develop internal and external networks.
* Promote the work of the School nationally and internationally.
* Provide advice to external bodies.
Planning, Managing People and Resources
* Exercise academic leadership for all subject area teaching and research activities.
* Act as line manager for staff employment matters.
* Ensure staff qualifications are suitable for their roles.
* Appraise and advise staff on personal and career development plans.
* Contribute to University planning and strategic development.
Essential & Desirable Criteria
Essential
* A PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
* Proven track record in engaged research and scholarship.
* Demonstrable capability in engaging and enthusing students.
* Proven track record of leadership in a Higher Education institution.
